Standalone roadmaps
A standalone roadmap isn't a tab on one board — it's its own entity, created from the sidebar, that pulls groups in from any board you have access to. Use it when a plan spans several teams and shouldn't have to live on any one of their boards.

What it does, and how it differs from a board's Roadmap view
A board's Roadmap view can only ever show that one board's groups. A standalone roadmap is the opposite shape: it starts empty, and you choose which groups — from any board — appear on it. Items stay owned by their source board; you still create and edit them there, and they show up on every roadmap that includes their group. Like the board view, it has a Grid and a Gantt layout you can toggle between (Gantt is the default), and each lane is labelled with both its group name and its home board, since one roadmap can span several boards at once.
How to create one
- New — the button at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Roadmap — listed under "Plan & analyze".
- Roadmap name — e.g. "Q3 Delivery" — then Create. You land on the new, empty roadmap as its Owner.
How to add items
There's no "new item" button on a standalone roadmap — you bring in whole groups instead, and their rows come along with them.
- + Add groups — opens "Add groups to roadmap".
- Pick a board, then either check Select entire board to bring in every current and future group on it, or check specific groups for a fixed, one-time list.
- Add — the groups' rows appear on the timeline immediately; add or edit the items themselves on the source board.
Under the hood
"Select entire board" is a live subscription, not a one-time copy: every time the roadmap loads, it re-checks that board's current groups, so a group created there later joins automatically and one that's deleted there drops off. Groups added individually don't get that treatment — removing one from the roadmap is something you do yourself, on the roadmap's own group list.
Your role on the roadmap — Owner, Editor, or Viewer — governs what you can do with it. Owners can delete the roadmap and manage who else has access to it. Editors can add or remove groups, reschedule items, and edit fields, but can't change access or delete it. Viewers get the same Grid and Gantt layouts, read-only — dragging and resizing are disabled.
If it looks wrong
