Pricing

A published price, from the first engineer.

The self-hosted core is free and uncapped, forever. If you want us to run it, or you need a commercial licence for your own environment, that is one plan in four capacity bands, starting at $600 / month. No sales call to find out the number.

FSL-1.1-ALv2 · FOUR COMMANDS · NO CARD · YOUR HARDWARE

Free is not a trial, and it is not a seat count.

The Community edition is the whole platform — the board over Jira, GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps, DORA and flow metrics, review analytics, org trees, roadmaps and per-engineer workload — source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-ALv2), with no seat cap and no feature gating on metrics. A 400-engineer organization can run it and pay nothing, forever. Nothing below takes anything away from that.

What you give up by self-hosting for free is that you operate it: a Postgres, a ClickHouse, a Redis and a Keycloak, backed up and upgraded by you. That is the whole of the difference, and for a lot of teams it is the right trade.

One plan. Four bands. Priced by the engineers we measure.

Managed hosting and a commercial self-hosted licence are the same price — the hosting is not what you are paying for, and self-hosting is the thing that makes this product different.

Volume rate
  • A volume rate is a conversation, so there is a person here rather than a price.

Annual prepayment is two months free (about 17% off) — at 50 engineers that is $11,000 a year instead of $13,200. Monthly billing is at list. Prices are exclusive of VAT; Codpal Limited is the seller of record, so VAT is applied where it is due and EU business customers with a valid VAT number are handled under the reverse charge.

30 days, no card to trial a hosted plan — we set it up, see below. A first subscription is refundable within 14 days of the charge, no argument; after that an annual plan is settled pro rata: the whole months you used are charged at the monthly rate, and the rest of what you paid comes back. Annual prepay earns two months free, and keeping that discount on time you did not use would make it a lock-in. The refunds page is the whole policy, and it is the one that governs. Full commercial terms, including what happens when your engineer count moves, are on pricing and commercial terms.

Operations, a licence, and a person who answers.

We run it, or you do

Fully managed hosting — backups, updates, upgrades — or the same platform in your own environment under a commercial licence. Same price either way.

Multi-organization deployment

Several engineering units in one deployment, each with its own boards, org trees and access. This is the one capability the licence key actually switches on today.

Priority support

Named response times, onboarding help, and support through a security review. There is no contractual uptime SLA yet and our terms say so rather than leaving you to find out.

Being precise about that middle one: single sign-on through Keycloak, role-based access control, and salary and manager-note visibility rules are in the free core. We do not hold them back to sell them to you. See the enterprise page for what is shipped and what we build to order.

There is no checkout button on this page, on purpose.

Self-hosting works right now: four commands and a connected source, free, with no account on anything of ours, and it is the same platform this page is selling rather than a reduced edition of it.

Hosted plans and commercial licences are not self-serve yet. We have not completed a payment end to end, so rather than publish a button that takes your card details into an untested path, we arrange it by email: [email protected]. Tell us your team size and whether you want us to host it, and you get a price from this page — not a discovery call, not a quote that depends on who is asking.

We would rather be the pricing page that says this out loud than the one that fails at the card form. When the checkout is live and proven, this section becomes a button.

What a measured developer is.

A person we observed activity from, in a connected tool, in the last 90 days — authoring or being assigned work we can see: commits, pull requests, reviews and issues across Jira, GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps. One person who appears in four tools counts once. It is distinct people, not a sum of rows.

Your directory does not set your price. If you connect a company directory, everyone in it appears as context, but directory headcount is not billable. A 500-person directory in which 40 people are shipping code is a 40-person bill.

The count is advisory, and contestable on purpose. Matching identities across four providers is imperfect and we do not pretend otherwise — the breakdown shows the per-source count and the identities we could not match, and when the unmatched outnumber the matched the app says the number is unreliable instead of quietly proposing a band. If you think it is wrong, email us and we will set the band by hand.

A band never changes mid-term, in either direction. If the count crosses a boundary, the new band applies at your next renewal, and we tell you before it does. We absorb a team that grows mid-quarter rather than issuing a surprise invoice on a number we have just called advisory.

The full definition, including how band changes are handled and what happens at the open-ended band, is on pricing and commercial terms. It is the number a customer is most likely to contest, so it is written from the code rather than from intent — including the parts that are unflattering.

Not one Magic Quadrant Leader publishes a price a team of twelve can buy.

Gartner published the inaugural Magic Quadrant for Developer Productivity Insight Platforms (DPIP) — the category also sold as Software Engineering Intelligence (SEI) — on 2026-05-05, naming four Leaders: Atlassian (DX), Jellyfish, LinearB and Opsera. Three of the four publish no price at all. The one that does enforces a hard 50-developer minimum. If you lead a team of twelve, the category's Leaders are not expensive for you — they are unavailable to you.

Where third parties have sampled the quote-only vendors' contracts, the medians land high enough to say the same thing in dollars — but only two of the three have been sampled, and those two figures are estimates rather than list prices. Opsera publishes nothing and has no reported median either, so the honest statement about it is exactly that and no more. Each row below says which kind of number it is.

Deckgauge starts at $600 / month, published, from the first engineer — and the self-hosted core is free at any size. Figures below were verified on 2026-09-11.

Vendor Entry economics Where the figure comes from
Atlassian (DX)
MQ Leader
~$51,520 median annual contract, one-year minimum, quote-only Estimate — median contract value from third-party data (Vendr/CodePulse), not a published price
Jellyfish
MQ Leader
~$35,920 median annual contract, quote-only; impractical below ~30–50 engineers Estimate — median contract value from third-party data (Vendr/CodePulse), not a published price
LinearB
MQ Leader
$29 per developer per month with a hard 50-developer minimum — a $17,400/year floor. The free tier has been removed Vendor list price
Opsera
MQ Leader
Quote-only — no published price at any team size No public price
Swarmia $45 per developer per month (Standard) — $27,000/year at 50 engineers. Cloud-only, no self-hosted option Vendor list price
Deckgauge $600/month published, from the first engineer — $13,200/year at 50. Self-hosted core free and uncapped Published on this page

Read the third column. The Atlassian (DX) and Jellyfish figures are median annual contract values estimated from third-party data (Vendr, CodePulse) — neither vendor publishes a list price, and a median is not one. What you would actually be quoted depends on your size and your negotiation. The LinearB, Swarmia and Deckgauge figures are list prices their vendors publish.

What you give up by choosing us

Being straight about it, because you will find out anyway. Deckgauge is not in the Magic Quadrant and does not claim to be. We have five connectors where DX has around sixty. We have no SOC 2 report. We do not run a developer-experience survey instrument, so everything we measure comes from systems rather than from asking your engineers. And there is no self-serve checkout on this page, which you have already read about above.

What you get instead: the platform runs on your own hardware, your source-control history never reaches a vendor, the source is readable, the price is on this page, and the board and the intelligence are the same tool rather than two subscriptions.

The things people ask before they buy.

How much does Deckgauge cost?

The self-hosted core is free and uncapped under the Functional Source License. The paid plan, which covers managed hosting or a commercial self-hosted licence, is $600 per month for up to 25 engineers, $1,100 for up to 50, $2,000 for up to 100, and a volume rate above that. Annual prepayment is two months free.

Is there a free version of Deckgauge?

Yes. The self-hosted Community edition is free forever, with no seat cap and no feature gating on metrics. You run it on your own hardware with Docker and your delivery data never leaves your infrastructure.

Does Deckgauge have a minimum number of developers?

No. The smallest band starts at one engineer. By comparison, LinearB publishes a hard 50-developer minimum, and the other three Gartner Magic Quadrant Leaders in this category — Atlassian (DX), Jellyfish and Opsera — publish no price at all.

What is a measured developer?

One person appearing in several tools counts once. Directory headcount is not billable: a 500-person directory in which 40 people ship code is a 40-person bill.

Can I buy Deckgauge online?

Not yet. The self-hosted core installs in four commands with no payment at all. Hosted plans and commercial licences are not self-serve today and are arranged by email with [email protected], because we have not completed a checkout end to end and will not publish a button that fails.

Is there a trial?

Yes — 30 days, no card. A first subscription is refundable within 14 days of the charge, no argument; after that window an annual plan is settled pro rata — the whole months you used are charged at the monthly rate, and the rest of what you paid is refunded. A band never changes mid-term in either direction; a change applies at your next renewal.

Start with the free one.

It is the same product. Run it on your own hardware this afternoon, and talk to us about hosting when — and only if — operating it stops being the thing you want to spend an afternoon on.
